With Pinterest and Instagram giving Facebook a run for the top social media crown, no one can deny that it is the age of the image online. Posts with images consistently get more clicks, tweets, likes and shares than any other posts. That makes creating these images more important than ever.
The only problem with this is how much time and effort it takes to create these images. Creating templates for your images is one way to cut down on that time and I am going to be covering how to do this in my upcoming Instagram Challenge. However, what if there was another way to create small graphics to use for quotes, stats, testimonials and more? Also, what if there was a way to directly post them without having to save and upload them to your social media account? Now there is!
Buffer, the social media scheduling site that we all know and love has created an offshoot called Pablo. It allows you to create and post engaging social media images in no time and for free! Check out all it has to offer!
On the left hand side of the screen, it gives you a bunch of options. First, there is the text box for your content. It comes preloaded with a number of inspirational quotes (cycle through them by clicking the refresh button in the bottom right corner of the text box) or you can delete it and add your own.
Below that is an option for adding secondary text (perfect for adding details to a promo post or a credit for a quote) and adding an icon. Clicking this opens up an upload pane that you can use to upload your logo if you want to add that extra element of branding and consistency to your finished image.
Next comes your text options. As I write this, there are only 10 font family options. They are some of the more popular Google Font options like Open Sans and Merriweather so you should have no trouble finding a font that matches the feel you are going for. You can choose between Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large for font sizes. You can choose between white, black, red, and blue for the font colors. When you open up the Advanced text options, you can choose to make the text italic, or load the light, medium, or bold versions of the font.
Finally, we come down to the background options. They have a gorgeous selection of stock images from Unsplash to serve as the canvas for your graphic and you can view them all by scrolling left to right. Within the options for the background, you can choose a normal view of the picture, blurred view, black and white view, and my favorite, the increased contrast option. This creates a semi-transparent overlay over the image so your text really stands out.
Once you have the graphic the way you want it, there are a number of ways you can share it on the right-hand side of the screen. The images created are 1,024 pixels wide by 512 pixels tall and optimized for both Facebook and Twitter. You can Tweet it out, Share it on Facebook, send it to your Buffer for a scheduled update, or you can download it.
There you have it! Try creating a graphic with Pablo and show me by tagging me on Facebook or Twitter at @placetonest! I can’t wait to see what you create! To see more ideas for how to use these awesome little graphics, hop on over to the Buffer blog here.

I tried out Pablo for the first time this week… So damn fast. Perfect for if you want to get a quote out there, but don’t have time to open up an Adobe program.

Cool! I hadn’t heard of this program before, I’ll def check it out, seems even easier than Canva 🙂

This is awesome! Thank you so much for posting about it. When I’m constantly pulled in so many directions (mostly blog/etsy seller v. Mom/wife/housekeeper) it’s nice to be able to do a quick post without losing contact with reality 😉
